I write software solutions for problems related to real-time video and network communications.

Due to my positive experiences with open source software, I am an avid fan of the open source community and try contribute now and then when I have some free time.  In fact, I use Ubuntu - an alternative to Mac and Windows.

Author’s Background

So how did I find myself getting involved in blogging?

I initially became interested in the Web during my days at high school.  During my spare time, I helped maintain the school’s web site.  Not only did I develop an understanding of HTML and CSS, but I soon found myself gaining and understanding into web marketing, SEO, and advertising.

Over the years, my knowledge rocketed from the basic understanding of utilizing FTP to the complexity of configuring Apache web servers. I used my knowledge to help promote local companies ranging from garage doors to life insurance.

Shortly after completing high school, I went to University with the ambitions of becoming a Chemical Engineer. I’m not too sure what I was thinking at the time because after a semester of Chemistry, I found myself declaring Computer Science as a major. I have not looked back since the change of heart!

After two years at Georgia College & State University, I transferred to The University of Reading located in Reading, UK.

While at Reading I met a professor, Mike Evans, who introduced me to the wonderful world of professional blogging. He runs a site called MobileMentalism which provides the latest news/leaks related to mobile phones. Mike was rather successful with his professional blogging career and encouraged me to join in on the fun.

Taking Mike’s encouragement to heart, I soon started my own blog - PlayerBites.com. PlayerBites provided news/reviews on upcoming MP3 and portable media players.  PlayerBites, with its mere year-long life span, became relatively popular in a short space of time.  Numerous articles featured on the likes of Engadget, Gizmodo and other tech related sites.

Just how successful was PlayerBites?  Well the site received around 1,000 unique visitors on average per day and made about $200 a month.  Not bad considering I was only writing a few posts per week, juggling University, and a working a part-time job.

Taking my new found experiences, I decided to create BlogaPro.com as a means of sharing my knowledge behind professional blogging.
